What is a Grey Number?

Grey numbers are the basic building blocks of Grey System Theory, which was developed by Julong Deng and Sifeng Liu. Grey numbers are frequently found in grey data, which is a frequent occurrence in real-world problems where we rarely have perfect data. Grey number is a random number whose range is known but exact location is unknown. For example, the age of a building seems to be within 5 and 8 years. Then, the grey number representing its age would be [5, 8], whereas the “true value” can be any number from 5 to 8.
